My name is Jacquelyn George, owner of Abundant Health Acupuncture in Rockland, Maine.

I am a licensed and nationally board-certified acupuncturist specializing in traditional, Japanese, and “needle-less” acupuncture. I have always been intrigued with the intricate complexity of nature, and pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from the University of Colorado. I then worked for several years as a research assistant at the Harvard School of Public Health and Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, before making the wise choice of relocating to Maine with our growing family in 1986. After several rewarding years of working with parents and children, I felt compelled to revisit my interest in the correlation of the natural world and human health, and completed the three year Master of Acupuncture program at the New England School of Acupuncture, in Newton, Massachusetts.

My mission is to unveil this ancient form of natural medicine of its mystery and make it understandable, accessible, and, well, just plain enjoyable.

Acupuncture has been used for over 3,000 years to safely and effectively restore and maintain optimal health to millions of individuals worldwide. It focuses on the body as a whole and concentrates not only on symptoms, but also upon the root cause of imbalance within each individual which may be triggering and aggravating such symptoms. Using hair-thin needles, magnets, herbs, infra red light, and a variety of other techniques, this medical practice strives to balance and restore the vital energetic force or qi (pronounced chee) that flows throughout our bodies. In doing so, pain is alleviated and both physical and emotional vitality is restored. Most people have heard that acupuncture is great to relieve muscle aches and pains, but it also can offer tremendous assistance to rectify a large variety of conditions, including insomnia, allergies, bowel difficulties, smoking cessation, fertility issues, menopause, headaches, depression and anxiety. All ages from infants to elders can receive significant help.

The name of my practice reflects my mission as an acupuncturist – that we are all capable of abundant health and well-being once our bodies and spirit are in harmonious balance.
